Drunk local fined RM25

KOTA KINABALU: A local man was fined RM25, in default, two weeks’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court yesterday for being drunk at the Kota Kinabalu Court House security guard hut, here.

Asmin Setu, 39, admitted before magistrate Nuruhuda Mohd Yusof to making noises and shouting while in a drunken manner which caused public disturbance on May 25.

He was convicted under Section 15 of the Minor Offences Ordinance which carries a maximum fine of RM25, upon conviction.

In a separate case, two local men were each fined RM1,000, in default, 45 days’ imprisonment for separate charges of possessing gambling implements.

Khoo Teo Mui, 49 and Kok Jun Haw, 42,  pleaded guilty to their charges under Section 9 (1) of the Common Gaming House 1953, which carries a maximum fine of RM5,000 or a jail term of up to six months or both, upon conviction.

Khoo was caught having a piece of paper with four-digit (4D) numbers written on it, a carbon book written with those numbers, a pen and RM172 in cash, near Bandaran Berjaya here, on May 22, while Kok admitted to possess five pieces of papers with 4D numbers written on them, a small book, a pen and RM10 in cash at Kingfisher area in Likas, on May 26.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Syahrin Ali appeared for the prosecution.
