LABUAN: Both the school holidays and the Kaamatan festival in  May had increased the demand for sea transportation services, including the roll-on/roll-off (RORO) ferry, ferry express and speedboat services to outside Labuan.

The spokesperson for ticket sales for both the ferry express and speedboat services yesterday said the departure time for the ferry express was normal for both the Labuan-Kota Kinabalu and Labuan-Menumbok sectors.

“Tickets for the daily ferry express services for the Labuan – Kota Kinabalu sector have been sold out since May 24. At this moment, almost half of the ferry express tickets for May 30 and May 31 for the Labuan – Kota Kinabalu sector have been sold out.

“It is expected that the tickets will be sold out in due course.  “However, most passengers will purchase their tickets on the day they travel from the island,” he said.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Labuan Ferry Corporation (LFC) Sdn. Bhd said their tickets on their RORO ferry from Labuan to Menumbok on May 30 and 31 had been sold out.

“Tickets were sold out since the second week of this month,” said the spokesperson.

However, tickets on the 9pm trip for the  Menumbok – Labuan sector on May 30 and 31, are still available.

LFC is operating daily from Menumbok to Labuan at 10.30am, 4.30pm and 9pm, respectively.

Another RORO ferry company, Syarikat Juta Bonus Sdn. Bhd, could not be contacted for ticket sales information.
