KOTA BAHARU: Kelantan police detained two men and seized 93,694 metamphetamine pills worth RM2.97 million, the biggest drug haul in Kelantan so far, after raiding a house in Kampung Kebakat, Wakaf Baharu, Tumpat, yesterday.

Kelantan deputy police chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim said during the 4.15pm raid police detained two suspects aged 23 and 27, believed to be drug traffickers, and also seized a Perodua Myvi car and a currency-counting machine.

“Police found 40 packets of the methamphetamine pills labelled WY, hidden under a bed. We believe the rented house was being used as a transit for metamphetamine pills for distribution of the drugs to drug pushers and drug addicts in the area and throughout the state,” he told reporters at the Kelantan police headquarters, here, yesterday.

Mazlan said police believe there is a syndicate involved in such activities.

“The 27-year-old suspect from Kota Baharu has three previous criminal records for drug related offences and had just been released from prison three months ago. He is believed to have returned to drug trafficking two months ago.

“The second suspect from Pasir Mas had worked as a taxi driver at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang before returning home to be involved in drug related activities. Both however, tested negative for drugs,” he said. — Bernama
