No end to Kota Marudu water woe – Maijol

KOTA KINABALU: Angakatan Perubahan Sabah (APS) deputy president  Datuk Maijol Mahap regrets that folk in Kota Marudu have to live with the constant water supply disruptions happening in the district.

The APS Kota Marudu chief lamented that the frequent water supply disruptions in Kota Marudu, have been happening for years, the latest being several days ago where there was no water supply for three days from May 28 to 30.

Despite the repeated water supply problems, there seemed to be no end to the problem, Maijol said, adding that the situation did not improve when it rained because when there was a flood, albeit a small one, the probability was that there would be water disruption.

“This has caused inconvenience to the people. The people cannot continue to suffer like this. The irony is even though the problem has persisted for a long time, nothing has been done to rectify it.

“As far as I know, there is no concrete planning being done to solve the problem,” he said.

Maijol said  the Barisan Nasional (BN) government recently highlighted the so called water problem in Selangor in the electronic and printed media.

“And recently, Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili as the new Minister of Energy, Water and Green Technology said he wants to solve water problems in Selangor. From what I know, there is no water problem in Selangor but the BN leaders make it as if there is a massive water problem there.

“There is nothing wrong for him to solve the water problem there if indeed it exists but he should solve the water problem in Kota Marudu first. He should have an action plan to solve it.

“Please don’t take the people of Kota Marudu for granted. The people of Kota Marudu also want to have normal everyday life without inconvenience,””Maijol said.
