KUALA LUMPUR: Patriotic film ‘Tanda Putera’, whose public screening was previously postponed, would be aired on Aug 29, said National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) director-general Raja Rozaimie Dalnish Shah.

He said the date was fixed by the film producer, following a Finas committee meeting chaired by committee chairman Datuk Mustapha Maarof.

He was speaking to reporters after an official visit to Finas here yesterday, by Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

Also present were Ahmad Shabery’s deputy, Datuk Jailani Johari, and ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Kamaruddin Siaraf.

The Pesona Pictures Sdn Bhd film, in collaboration with Finas, tells the story of second prime minister Tun Abdul Razak Hussein and his deputy, Tun Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman, in healing the nation after the May 13, 1969 tragedy.

Made in 2011, the movie was approved by the Film Censorship Board with PG13 certificate, and scheduled to be aired on Nov 15, last year.

However, the Cabinet decided to postpone the film due to inappropriate  scenes  which could cause conflict in society.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Shabery told reporters that the ‘Tanda Putera’ screening was previously postponed due to certain controversial aspects at the time. — Bernama
