SHAH ALAM: Selangor PAS deputy commissioner 111, Khalid Abdul Samad claims Malaysiakini has sensationalised the article he wrote in his blog on the appointment of the Selangor State Executive Councillors (Excos).
He also denied the claim that he issued a statement that the delay in the appointment of the excos was caused by the need to accommodate the wishes of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
“In my article (on May 20), I did not accuse the palace for the delay and I did not blame any party,” he told a press conference, here, yesterday.
He said his writing only explained the mechanism in the appointments of excos because of claims that the opposition pact quarrelled over deciding who should be excos.
“We are not hasty (in the appointment of excos) because Pakatan Rakyat had won comfortably in the 13th general election. Malaysiakini is deliberately sensationalising it, resulting in the palace issuing a statement that I have blamed the palace,” he said.
In this regard, Khalid, who is also Shah Alam member of parliament, hoped the private secretary to the Sultan of Selangor, Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani could read his original article in his blog to find out what he actually wrote.
In his blog ‘Khalid Samad’, he stated that his side was led to understand that the Selangor Sultan wanted to see the exco lineup consisting six Malays and four non-Malays compared to 2008 whereby the lineup comprised five Malays and five non-Malays.
Last Thursday, Mohamad Munir, in a media statement, clarified that the delay in the appointments of the excos was because Abdul Khalid had received the consent of the palace upon returning from medical treatment abroad.
As such, Mohamad Munir said, the accusation claiming the appointments of the excos was delayed to accommodate the wishes of the Sultan of Selangor was not true.
He reminded all parties not to drag the palace into political affairs to prevent the Sultan of Selangor from being miscontrued by the people. — Bernama
