ALOR SETAR: Kedah Gerakan Youth head Tan Keng Liang said the PKR should withdraw its plan to organise a rally on June 15 or any other day in future out of respect for the speech by the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong that the 13th general election (GE13) result should be accepted.

“If His Majesty (Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah) has spoken, why should they continue with the rally.

“If they continue to hold the rally, they can be regarded as traitors for going against the wishes of His Majesty,” he said at a press conference, here yesterday.

He said that as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had spoken, PKR should accept the outcome of the GE13 which had been decided by the people according to the Federal Constitution.

Tan feared that such rallies could create doubts and incite the people against the outcome of GE13.

The political parties within the opposition pact should join in the efforts at national development and preserve the peace to ensure prosperity for the people and country, he said.

In conjunction with the birthday anniversary of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on June 1, His Majesty had said that the people should accept the results of the GE13 which had been determined by the people themselves.

They should also use the methods of solving the issue which had been drawn up should there be differences of opinion, not to cast doubts on the institution which had been entrusted with managing the general election, and whatever political changes should be made peacefully according to the constitution and the law, the King had said in his speech. — Bernama
