PEKAN: The police will throw the book at a woman who allegedly insulted the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, via Facebook.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the police were in the midst of detecting the Facebook account of the alleged culprit.

“We will also cooperate with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to carry out further investigation on the said individual,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters after an audience with the Sultan of Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah and Sultanah Hajah Kalsom at Istana Abu Bakar here yesterday.

In a statement to the media, MCMC was reported to have detained the woman who was believed to have insulted Tuanku Halim on Saturday, via Facebook, to facilitate investigations.

She was said to have gone into hiding after her identity was uncovered in several web sites.

Meanwhile, in Kota Baharu, three non-governmental organisations (NGO) lodged police reports here about 11am yesterday, against the woman.

They are Pertubuhan Keturunan Paduka Raja Cik Siti Wan Kembang Malaysia, Kelab Bumi Rahmat and Persatuan Lembaga Adat.

Pertubuhan Keturunan Paduka Raja Cik Siti Wan Kembang Malaysia head activist Tengku Seri Nara Fazilah Putri Hussin said the report was to urge the police and MCMC to take firm action against the culprit.
