KUALA LUMPUR: Nearly 80,000 Royal Malaysia Police personnel registered with the Police Cooperative will enjoy insurance cover for a premium as low as RM9 a month, Police Cooperative chairman Datuk Amir Sulaiman said yesterday.

He said the premium entitled the contributors to an accidental death benefit of RM30,000.

“The benefit also covered permanent disability, loss of ability due to accident, permanent partial disability, medical leave due to an accident and hospitalisation,” he told a news conference after the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Police Cooperative and HSBC Amanah Takaful, Takaful Ikhlas and Takaful Malaysia, here.

Among other schemes offered are the Treasury Housing Loan Takaful Scheme with HSBC Amanah, Ikhlas Saving Badal Hajj Plus Scheme with Nisk Agency (Takaful Ikhlas) as well as the existing scheme, Group Hospitalisation and Surgical Takaful Scheme.

“For the Group Family Takaful Scheme, the membership has reached a total of 74,249 with 114,537 units. Some 10,567 staff have joined the Group Medical Takaful Scheme which does not include family members,” he said. — Bernama
