Sabah’s crime index down by 15.56 pct

KOTA KINABALU: The crime index statistics for Kota Kinabalu dropped 15.56 per cent since January, as compared to the corresponding period last year.

Kota Kinabalu police chief ACP Jauteh Dikun said the statistics meant the police were committed in exercising their duties and responsibilities to prevent and combat crime.

“This showed that cases went down to 635 from January until June 9, as compared to 752 cases in the same period last year,” he said at the monthly
gathering at the Kota Kinabalu police headquarters in Karamunsing, near here yesterday.

He said although the crime index had dropped, two types of crimes showed an increase, namely, motorcycle thefts at 4.9 per cent and house-breakings at 13.46 per cent.

Meanwhile, Jauteh said the police would enhance their policing services for the people and continue their actions with honesty, responsibility and commendable trait to boost the force’s image. — Bernama
