KOTA KINABALU:  A total of 470 people have benefited from courses organised by the Yayasan Usaha Maju (YUM) in three districts, recently.

The biscuit baking and stall food cooking course, which was held in Lahad Datu, Kunak, Tawau dan Semporna, were conducted throughout the months of May and June.

YUM managing director, Freddy Rantau, hoped, through the programme, that participants will be able to learn new skills, besides finding out business opportunities available to help improve their livelihood.

“The programme is organised under the Felda’s special fund for the state this year. More of similar training programme will be organised until end of this year,” he said.

He therefore urged YUM members to take part in such courses to learn new skills, besides improving their existing knowledge.

“Among YUM’s objective is to produce more women entrepreneurs and we are gearing our programmes towards this objective.

“It is also our hope that participants would make full use of the knowledge and skills learned, which can be useful to them in the future,” he said.

Among their future courses are entrepreneurship and book keeping.
