TENOM: The body of a teenage boy who was reported missing and feared drowned while fishing at Pangi River, about 76 Km from here, on Sunday was found yesterday morning.
The body of Idris Pamiang, 18, was found by villagers about 6.55am, several meters from where the area he was first reported missing.
It is believed that the victim had gone to the river to fish when he slipped and fell into the river on June 16 around 7pm.
Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Senior Assistant Superintendent Mohd Affendy Ramin said said a search operation was carried out since Sunday but failed to locate the victim due to darkness.
“Around 7am this morning (yesterday) we received information that the victim’s body has been found by villagers who were helping in the search operation,” he said.
Mohd Affendy said the body was taken to the district hospital for a post-mortem.
