No KPI for bumi entrepreneurs in oil, gas

THERE is no Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for bumiputera entrepreneurs in Sabah who are involved in the oil and gas industry, said Industrial Development Minister Datuk Raymond Tan.

Speaking at the state legislative assembly sitting yesterday, Tan said KPI was not created for bumiputera entrepreneurs as the number of them is small in the industry.

“At the moment, local entrepreneurs who are involved in the Sabah Ammonia Urea (Samur) project are on non-process work terms. Those entrepreneurs who are appointed by Petronas indeed meet the standards of the oil and gas industry.

“However, entrepreneurs who are involved in the upstream and midstream works with Petronas have their own KPI created by Petronas under its Vendor Development Program,” said Tan when answering a question from Bongawan assemblyman Mohamad Alamin.

He added that even though the number of bumiputera entrepreneurs was still small, the KPI would be included into the planning according to the needs of industry players such as Petronas, Shell, Texaco, Esso and Exxon Mobile.
