Complaints on house defects fall on dead ears, claims owner

KOTA KINABALU: One of the house owners at Taman Luyang Perdana yesterday lodged a complaint about the defects in his house to Api-Api assemblywoman Christina Liew.

Albert Maria Lim said he had been going around to the City Hall, local government, developer and consultants since 2005 to help to get the defects in his house rectified but in vain.

“When I got the Occupancy Certificate (OC) of my house in 2005, I had lodged complaints many times to the relevant authority and bodies but the problem remained unsolved.

“Some of the defects are ‘hidden’ and are now surfacing such as the roof, water pipes inside the walls, serious water leakage from the meter to the water tanker, among others,” he said.

Lim said the consultant architects had inspected the house and submitted a summary of the defects and recommendations to the City Hall on 10th February 2013 to seek remedy.

“He also recommended a formal meeting with the developer, the consultant and City Hall to resolve the issues together with the house owner.

“Until today, there is no reply from City Hall to the letter. I am worried that my house will deteriorate further unless the defects are rectified soon,” he said, adding he was seeking help from Liew to resolve his problems.

“I hope the authorities concerned are willing to meet me to discuss how to repair the defects as soon as possible,” added Lim.
