Crocs and fans seeking moment of truth

GETTING READY: The Crocs in training yesterday evening at the Stadium Negeri.

KUCHING: At least a point against Kuala Lumpur tonight will be enough to ensure that Sarawak become league champion.

Football fans are now anxious for the moment of truth after 16 years since the Crocs last lifted the coveted premier league crown in 1997.

Sarawak have already gained a Super League promotion and the title will indeed be an icing on the cake.

It was learnt that the Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) have planned for the presentation of the championship trophy should the match end in Sarawak’s favour.

FAS president Datu Sudarsono Osman said that he, like any other Sarawak fan, would like to taste glory after the 90 minutes at the Stadium Negeri tonight.

He is optimistic that fans will ensure that a good sporting atmosphere prevail at the stadium. After seeing Johor fans applauding Sarawak after last Friday’s Premier League clash between the two teams, Sudarsono is hoping that the same can be done by Sarawak fans as well.

Sarawak had edged Johor 2-1 and fans from both sides shared in the celebration, singing side by side.

“Whatever is the outcome tomorrow (tonight), I want the match to be a match for all to enjoy. Let football rule the day and do its magic,” he said.

Sudarsono was at the Stadium Negeri yesterday to watch the Crocs train when he was interviewed by The Borneo Post.
