SMK Penrissen’s title with 3-1 win

KUCHING: Schools hockey powerhouse SMK Penrissen No.1 performed up to expectations to lift the inaugural Danawa SHA Junior League (Boys) crown after they beat 1MAS U16 3-1 in the final at the Sarawak Hockey Stadium in Padungan yesterday.

It was 1MAS U16 who drew first blood, with Ferry Filler scoring in the 14th minute through a penalty corner. The half-time score stood at 1-0.

The Penrissen boys found the equaliser in the 39th minute when Rhohan Utok scored from a penalty corner.

Galve Oyester was outstanding as he scored a brace with field goals in the 53rd and 69th minute to hand Penrissen the victory.

In the play-off for third and fourth placing, SMK Bau Combined beat SMK Muara Tuang 1-0 in a penalty shootout after both teams tied 2-2 at full time.

Finishing in fifth and sixth spots were IPGTRAR and 1MAS U14 respectively.
