TAWAU: An unidentified man drove off in a Toyota Vigo vehicle belonging to a 39-year-old woman at a petrol station in front of Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd, Kuhara Road on Monday morning.

District police deputy chief Superintendent Keong Ho Eng said the victim stopped at the station to refuel at about 7.15am but her car failed to start after that, prompting her to ask one of the staff there to help start the vehicle.

He said when the car was successfully started by the staff, suddenly an unidentified man approached the car and asked the staff about the car problem.

Keong said suddenly the suspect dragged out the staff from the driver’s seat and drove off in the car.

Another fuel station staff tried to tail the suspect on a motorcycle and found another car was also tailing the victim’s car.

The suspect headed to North Road before heading to Kalabakan.

He said police were still investigating the case under Section 395 of the Penal Code which provides for 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping.
