Malaysians advised not to go to Egypt

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians have been advised to postpone and reschedule visits to Egypt due to street protests in Cairo and other major cities, including Faiyoum, Mansoura and Alexandria.

Wisma Putra said it was monitoring the development very closely as hundreds of people had been injured in demonstrations over the past few days.

“So far, no injuries were reported among Malaysians, including students,” it said in a statement here.

Due to the volatile situation ahead of massive rallies being planned simultaneously throughout Egypt for yesterday, the Foreign Ministry advised Malaysians to postpone and reschedule visits to the country.

It said the Malaysian Embassy in Cairo also advised Malaysians residing in Egypt to be vigilant and stay away from large gatherings and demonstrations.
