Brazil thrashed world and European champions Spain 3-0 to retain the Confederations Cup here on Sunday.

Two goals from striker Fred and a stunning effort from Neymar clinched a deserved victory for Brazil as Spain were swept aside in emphatic fashion to the delight of the raucous Maracana Stadium crowd.

A miserable night for the Spanish also saw Sergio Ramos miss a second-half penalty while Gerard Pique was sent off for a professional foul on Neymar. -AFP
