A pedestrian who came across the body floating in Sg Sebiew around 11.50am yesterday had alerted the police.

Marine police arrived at the scene shortly after being informed but the body had floated some distance away from where it was spotted earlier.

The deceased was identified as Martines Robert, 24, and according to the father, Robert Budul, 54, he had lodged two missing person reports at the police one-stop centre here – one at 3am on Sunday and another at 8.30am yesterday.

The incident started to unfold last Saturday night after the Martines and his younger brother identified as Sanches, 20, asked for their father’s permission to go out to celebrate a birthday party with their friends in Sg Plan.

Robert, who was worried about his children’s safety after they failed to reach home that night, tried to look for them at the place they had told him about but their friends told him both of them went to one of the entertainment outlets in the town centre for another drinking session.

When he reached the outlet, he found most of the customers were rushing out from the premises as if something bad had happened.

Robert rushed into the pub to look for his children but to no avail. However, he found his eldest son’s car parked nearby. but noticed The front side of the car was badly damaged.

The concerned father kept searching in nearby areas and fortunately found his younger son Sanches hiding beside the rubbish bin not far from the outlet.

Sanches was badly injured on his head and drunk.

When asked what had happened and where his elder brother was, Sanches couldn’t remember anything.

Robert carried his injured son back to the pub to get further explanation from the pub owner.

The latter was said to have admitted that he smashed the car but didn’t hurt Robert’s two sons.

This resulted in a minor quarrel between both parties before Robert brought his injured son to hospital for treatment.

Marine police are still investigating the case.
