Residents praised for keeping peace, harmony

MARUDI: The people of various races and religions in Baram district have been commended for being able to live peacefully together.

The words of praise came from Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau, who also told them to always practise and maintain that spirit of harmony and tolerance.

He was speaking at the dinner to mark the opening of the Epiphany Church (Anglican) here at a restaurant at Kampung Cina here on Sunday night.

At the function, Ngau presented a MRP grant of RM5,000 to the church.

A karaoke singing competition was also held during the dinner, while Ngau collected RM641 for the church for his ‘golden voice’.

Organizing chairman Stephen Lun Langidai also gave a speech.

Among those present were Baram district officer Joseph Belayong, Marudi information chief Joseph James, Baram police chief DSP Tamin Emperang and Rev Fr Donald.
