KOTA KINABALU: A chemist told the Sessions Court hearing a rape case involving an underage girl here yesterday that three of the 13 exhibits which he analysed had traces of semen.

However, Biling Peter Raig, from the Kota Kinabalu Chemistry Department, said the samples had to be sent to the Kuching Chemistry Department for DNA test.

“Traces of the semen were found on the seat cover and two handkerchiefs.

“Based on the screening test, I found traces of semen on the three exhibits, but there was no trace of blood,” he added.

Biling, who is the second witness, was testifying on the first day trial of Riduan Masmud, 40, who is charged with raping the girl, then 12 years and six months old, in a parked car by the roadside at Inanam, Sabah, about 10am last Feb 18.

Questioned by deputy public prosecutor Raja Zaizul Faridah Raja Zaharuddin, Biling said he received the exhibits on March 19 from another chemist, Aishah Abdul Aziz, who received them from investigating officer at the Inanam police station, Silvia Martin Dalog.

The exhibits were in 19 envelopes and a paper package, he added.

Earlier, Corporal Edward Darwin, who is the first witness, told the court that he received the report on the rape, which was lodged by a family member of the victim, at 8.24pm last Feb 18 at the Inanam police station.

Last May 21, the court was told that Riduan had married the girl and this drew various reactions as the girl was an underage.

Lawyer Loretto J Padua, represented Riduan, while lawyer Datuk Mariati Robert hold a watching brief for the Sabah Law Association.
