Imam from Gaza thankful to Malaysia for helping Palestinians

KOTA KINABALU: A 23-year-old Imam from Gaza was thankful to Malaysia for helping the people of Palestine.

Mohamed Adil Sarafandy, who arrived in Malaysia early this week, said that Malaysia was one of the countries that had been helping Palestine all this while.

“I’m thankful because they are willing to help us there, special thanks to Aman Palestine here as well as the other Malaysians who never stop helping,” said Mohamed Adil when met yesterday.

Mohamed Adil, who only understands and speaks Arab, will be in Sabah throughout Ramadhan to be an Imam for Terawih prayers at various districts such as Tawau, Lahad Datu, Papar and Kota Kinabalu.

He will also give talks about Palestine issues and to attend fast breaking events.

Mohamed Adil who is now doing his Master’s degree in Syariah Islamiah at University of Gaza, will be at Masjid An-Nur Putrajaya near the University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) building on July 9 as his first destination.

“My purpose of coming here is to be an Imam for Terawih prayers and to tell the people the true situation in my country,” he added.

Meanwhile, Aman Palestin Sabah executive officer Jumriati Abdullah invites Sabahans to join the Iftar Ramadhan programme with this Imam Gaza.

“The event will be held at Tabung Haji on July 27 and the price per chair is RM100 and RM1,000 per table,” she said.
