KUCHING: No Malaysian should ask fellow Malaysians to migrate as it is against the Federal Constitution, said SUPP Youth chief Tan Kai.

He noted the number of ‘Leave Malaysia’ calls had grown of late, particularly among politicians and the mass media in Peninsular Malaysia.

“One Malaysian does not simply ask another Malaysian to leave the country or migrate to other countries because the rights of all Malaysians are protected under the Federal Constitution.

“It is very unhealthy for a Malaysian to direct the ‘Leave Malaysia’ at another Malaysian. We must put a stop to such an irresponsible comment (sic),” he told a press conference at SUPP headquarters here yesterday.

Tan said he believed all Malaysians love Malaysia, but in different ways.

“After over half a century of independence, we should be more accommodative.”

On June 30, 2013, a national daily, in one of its columns, asked DAP publicity chief and Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua to migrate to Taiwan or Hong Kong if he did not approve of Ramadan bazaars.

Meanwhile, SUPP Youth training secretary Milton Foo, who was also at the press conference, urged the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) to reveal its master plan to achieve the promised 30 per cent reduction in prices for imported automobiles over the next five years.

“Give us a proper plan on how the government aims to achieve the 30 per cent car price reduction in five years.

“It does not help that the deputy minister of Miti recently said in Parliament there is no plan to reduce prices at the moment.

“This is not the way to do it. BN must honour the promises made in its manifesto during GE13.”

Foo said Miti must not delay price reduction just because it might cost the nation about RM7 billion in revenue.

He suggested a comprehensive plan be worked out to reduce car prices gradually to minimise the impact on industry players.

“The government must keep its election promises, and SUPP Youth will keep a close eye on the progress and its implementation.”

Others present were SUPP Youth member Simon Wong and Wanita publicity secretary Kho Teck Ee.
