KUCHING: A Unimas student fell victim to street crime after he was robbed of his belongings at knife-point on Friday.
The 23-year-old was walking past an eatery at Mile 3 around 11.30pm when he was accosted by an unknown man, who placed a knife against his neck and warned him not to shout for help.
The robber then ordered the student to surrender his belongings, comprising a laptop, wallet and Blackberry phone, before escaping with an accomplice on a Honda motorcycle.
The victim, who described the robber as having dyed yellow hair, was not hurt in the incident and lodged a report at the Sungai Maong police station.
Earlier the same day, a marketing executive also fell to street crime when she was robbed while getting into her car.
The 25-year-old victim told police the incident occurred around 6.15pm near a cafe at Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce when an unknown man rushed towards her as she was about to enter her car and pointed a cock spur at her while demanding for her valuables.
Fearing for her safety, she handed over her handbag to the man, who then ran to a nearby motorcycle and sped off.
The victim, who was unhurt, lost about RM2,500 worth of valuables in the form of two mobile phones, a few hundred ringgit in cash and personal documents.
Police are investigating both cases.
