LANGKAWI: Premier leisure and water sports provider NAAM Sdn Bhd (NAAM) is seeing robust growth in its various businesses as the company widens the reach of its operations here and plans to expand to other holiday and adventure destinations in the future.

NAAM divisional vice president Gobalan Ramiah told The Borneo Post that hotel operators had taken notice of the company’s operations and top notch safety standards and expressed their interest in having NAAM cater to their respective guests.

“Eventually, everyone will come to know about this company and that it’s all about safety and security while at the same time, it’s about the products as well.

“We have 70 jet skis, 27 boats and about 30 cars with more new boats coming soon: the Sea Merlin next month and then the G-63 next year. We are getting new cars, new vessels for the fleet and the company is growing.

“We are basically expanding and that’s the reason why we are getting all these hubs around the island to ensure our presence everywhere.

“Langkawi is basically a very strange island. It could be raining on one part of the island while another part could be bright and sunny.

“If it’s raining in the northern side of the island, we can actually bring the guests to the southern side to do the same activities.

“This is the reason why we have so many hubs. We have seven hubs now and are still expanding.”

The vice president, who prefers to be called Balan, added that when the company positioned its operations in all strategic locations, Langkawi would basically be a place where it could cater for the high end clients.

While it is currently serving guests from five-star hotels such as the Four Seasons and Westin, others such as the upcoming Shangri La and Ritz Carlton are also in the pipeline, he noted.

Such clients need a proper place where they could engage in these activities where safety and security standards must be the highest.

Balan revealed that lot of contracts have been signed with the five-star hotel and tour and travel agents as well, thus adding to NAAM’s robust expansion.

When asked if the company was eyeing other destinations as part of its expansion strategy, the vice president said such plans were ‘absolutely’ in the pipeline.

“Port Dickson is one of the places that we are looking at right now as well as Johor. So once we set up the whole place in Langkawi, then we start focusing on other places.

“It could be probably by the end of next year. It all really depends on how fast we grow in Langkawi,” he stated.
