TAMBUNAN: A driver died when the brake of a container trailer truck failed while going downhill and crashed into the roadside at kilometer 21 of Kota Kinabalu-Tambunan road yesterday morning.
District police chief Deputy Superintendent Robert Salisip @ David who confirmed the incident, said the victim in in 40s had not been identified yet.
He said police investigations revealed that the truck was going down a hill from the direction of Tambunan and heading to Kota Kinabalu when the incident happened about 9am.
“The truck driver was trapped inside the vehicle and died at the scene,” he said, addingthe case was being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
