Local hospitalised from gunshot to the head, 3 men detained

KINABATANGAN: A local man sustained a gunshot wound to his head after he was allegedly shot by a colleague at Kampung Sungai Palawon, Penangah, Tongod here around 6pm on Monday.

The victim, identified only as Jupiry, 33, from Sook, Keningau was believed to have gone to the village with the suspect and two others on Saturday to open an agriculture farm.

After the incident, the trio brought the victim back to his hometown in Keningau, where his family members immediately rushed him to the district hospital to receive treatment.

Meanwhile, state Crime Investigation Department chief SAC Omar Mammah, when confirming the incident, said the police are still carrying out investigation into the case, adding that the three men have been detained by the police in Keningau to facilitate investigation.

Omar said that, according to the hospital’s medical report, a bullet was found inside the victim’s brain and he will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu for further treatment.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 37 of the Arms Act 1960 for causing injury with a firearm without lawful excuse.
