PRS Youth chiefs back Masing over statement

KUCHING: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth is backing their president Tan Sri Dr James Masing on his statement entitled ‘Share power or become irrelevant’ which was front-paged by The Borneo Post recently.

“To have a meaningful and effective power-sharing in Barisan Nasional (BN) we must trust each other instead of being too suspicious of one another. It must be genuine ‘marriage’ so to speak.

“We must not try to be too dominant in decision-making and make another party irrelevant,” said PRS central Youth exco member and Bukit Begunan Youth chief Jesi Bintoh yesterday.

“In short, we must always be united as one strong BN coalition. We are already on the right track and let’s foster it for the sake of our future generation,” he stressed.

In concurring with Jesi on Masing’s statement, PRS Baleh Youth chief Bakat Gira said power-sharing must be nurtured and fostered if BN wants to move forward in a greater way.

“Umno must foster genuine power-sharing with other component parties as stressed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in his call that we must not just tolerate one another but instead accept one another.

“Now the opposition should be worrying sick of the latest statement from PRS president. This means BN wants to become more united and stronger with the Chinese and Indian support swinging to BN,” Bakat pointed out.

PRS Limbang Youth chief Cr Ali Adap said Masing’s statement is timely since the prime minister has been urging BN to consolidate.

“Therefore, in order to consolidate we need to practise ‘Power-sharing’ in the true sense of the word. That is ensure BN will get much stronger and more relevant. And as for the Dayak communities in Sarawak, they will not be happy if they are just being treated as making up the numbers.”

“What we want is to participate meaningfully and effectively through the BN,” added Ali.
