SIBU: The Magistrates’ Court yesterday ordered Tiang Yee Lee, who is suspected of killing his wife and their two children on July 5, to be remanded for another six days.

Tiang, 43, an oil palm site clearing contractor, has to appear before the court again on July 17.

He is alleged to have killed his wife Ling Yung Ming, 40, daughter Christine, 14, and son Victor, 2, in their house at Pulau Li Hua.

A post mortem found all three victims to have died of suffocation.

Tiang’s eldest son, Soon Tai, 17, survived the attack by escaping from the balcony on the first floor. He then ran to a neighbour’s house for shelter.

Tiang was arrested by police in Bintulu that evening. Found inside his car was a bottle of weed-killer and a water hose.

The night before, Tiang, who had debts totalling about RM3.5 million, treated the whole family to a lavish dinner outside.
