KUCHING: The new mosque at Kampung Muara Tebas, which has been in planning since 2005, will be completed in three months.

According to Deputy Home Minister Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, the delay in the completion of the mosque involves several issues including the project site.

He added that the initial plan was to build a floating mosque but this was scrapped due to issues involving costs.

He added that in 2007, an allocation of RM1.8 million had been approved to build the mosque on a 70-point land located behind the village school.

Wan Junaidi who is also Santubong MP, was met by reporters after visiting the mosque project site yesterday.

“It will be able to accommodate 1,000 persons and will become the landmark for Muara Tebas,” he said.

He said he would apply for additional fund for the construction of the mosque’s fence.
