Demand for Malay traditional wear up with Raya approaching

IN FASHION: Yasmin personally models the trendy maxi dress for Hari Raya.

SIBU: The demand for baju kurung and baju kebaya is increasing with Hari Raya Aidilfitri nearing.

Aminah Dollah for one has started to shop for baju kurung and baju kebaya at shops like Yasmin’s Closet at Arcade Mara.

“It’s at this closet that I am spoilt for choice,” she enthused, saying she could find a wide choice of trendy and good quality clothes there at affordable prices.

Aminah said her choice included baju kurung traditional, baju kurung denim, baju peplun, baju jubah, maxi dress and baju kebaya of various designs.

Also available are tudung hajra, tudung d’ nories and selendang ‘half moon’ of creative designs and attractive colours.

Aminah said she had yet to get all the clothes she had in mind for this Hari Raya.

“We’ve to be prudent in spending. That’s why I am taking my sweet time to get what I want,” she said.

Another loyal customer of Yasmin’s Closet is Rohayah A, who prefers to shop there because she finds the manager, Yasmin Amirah Fairuz Lim, affable and friendly.

“Here, I don’t have to worry about not knowing what clothes suit me.

“Yasmin always gives me good suggestions,” she enthused.

Rohayah is particularly fond of those baju kurung and baju kebaya that are adorned with Swarovski stones and beads.

Yasmin, meanwhile, said her shop could arrange to have baju kurung, baju kebaya or scarves uniquely decorated with Swarovski stones or crystals for customers.
