KUCHING: Sabahan artiste Jamieson Fung will hold a showcase at Plaza Merdeka tomorrow starting 8pm to release his mini album ‘Harapanku, Be My Love’.

The showcase will also feature independent artiste Ji-hoon from Seoul, South Korea.

The duo arrived here on Monday for a five-day tour as part of Fung’s Charity Through Music (CTM) event, which aims to raise funds for humanitarian aid and various charitable organisations.

Organiser Pals Event, which is also a sponsor, invited the public to support the good cause.

Project director Aaron Tan said yesterday that part of the profits from the CD sales will be used to run various non-profit music-related events for charity on a regular basis.

“Through these musical programmes, we shall gather funds for humanitarian aid and works to lessen the burden of independent children’s homes catering for underprivileged, less fortunate and disabled children,” he added.

Fung, who is from Kota Kinabalu, came up with the overall concept for CTM in March 2012.

Last year he released his debut English single ‘Be My Love’ together with his debut Malay single ‘Harapanku’ in Sabah.

He also launched CTM’s inaugural event ‘Let The Music Lead The Way 2012’.

“The general idea was to produce a studio album and all proceeds from the CD sales will be channelled to Bukit Harapan,” Tan explained.

Bukit Harapan is a shelter for the helpless and less fortunate including victims of abuse, the disabled, handicapped children, orphans, the homeless and those who have been abandoned.

“The sales of the CDs are still ongoing and we hope to conclude it as soon as possible,” he added.

Meanwhile, Fung and Ji-hoon will collaborate to produce a compilation album, which is expected to be released in Seoul this winter as part of the ‘Love Is Everywhere 2013’ (also known as Harapanku 2013) programme.

The compilation album will comprise of 12 songs with Ji-hoon singing four Korean songs while Fung will sing four songs in English and Malay.

The other four songs will be duet bonus tracks in a mixture of languages.Ji-hoon is expected to release his own album next year.
