SPDP Muara Tuang hopes for new state seat

KOTA SAMARAHAN: SPDP Muara Tuang Division members hope the forthcoming Election Commission delineation exercise would see a new state seat in their area.

Its division chairman councillor Edward Brandah Madi said if the seat materialises, they would bid for it to be allocated to SPDP.

He said it was logical to do so as the state seats of Asajaya and Muara Tuang, which comes under the parliamentary constituency of Kota Samarahan, had been allocated to PBB – the backbone of the state Barisan Nasional (BN).

In addition, Brandah said his division had worked hard in Muara Tuang over the years.

He said this in his welcoming address at the division’s annual general meeting (AGM) in his residence at Lorong Panglima Kala, off Jalan UiTM-Entinggan, here on Thursday.

SPDP Muara Tuang is also hoping a Pemanca would be appointed for the Iban community here soon as the post had long been vacant. “We hope the Pemanca would be someone from our party division, is a local and someone who can work closely with all elected representatives in the area,” he said.

Brandah said the party division would also request party headquarters to recommend to Samarahan District Council (MDS) to appoint at least two more party division members as councillors and several division members as board members in government-linked companies.

On another matter, Brandah reminded members to continue their recruitment drive and promote their service centre at Medan Universiti commercial centre.

“We plan to hold a joint dinner in November this year as part of our efforts to enhance the spirit of comradeship and solidarity among SPDP members,” he said.

Among the topics dabbled at the AGM were native customary rights land issues, politics, and businesses relating to the Iban community.

During the gathering, membership cards were presented to new recruits. SPDP deputyinformation chief Churchill E Drem handed over the cards to Brandah.
