200 booths for furniture and home expo

KUCHING: Sarawak Furniture Industry Association will hold ‘The Furniture and Home Expo 2013’ from Sept 5 to 8 at Level 1, Mall 2 of City One Megamall here.

Event organising chairman Chin Yoke Sing said this at a press conference at the association premises here yesterday.

“We aim to raise funds for the association’s operating costs and to recruit new members to grow the association and speak in one voice.”

He added this would be their third year of holding the expo to highlight the finest furniture the industry has to offer.

“There were 8,000 visitors at last year’s expo with total turnover sales of more than RM1 million. There were 159 booths then but this year we will have 200 booths,” he said.

The expo will run from 10am to 10pm.

According to Chin, the venue will be fully air-conditioned and the site boasts facilities like conference, seminar room or food court.

The association had invited its members as well as non-members from all over the country to participate in this event. Interested exhibitors are advised to make early bookings to avoid disappointment.

“We are confident that all participants will benefit from the showcasing of their latest products and this is the best time for customers to visit and make a good bargain at the booths,” he said.

He added that a discount of 10 per cent will be given to early birds who confirm and make full payment on the booth rental on or before July 31.

Members of the association would be entitled to a further discount from the association provided they fulfill the conditions.

Over 80 per cent of the booths have been booked because the majority of the exhibitors from last year’s expo have registered to participate in this year’s event.
