SANDAKAN: A senior citizen was killed while two of his sons sustained serious injuries when the Perodua Viva they were travelling in collided with a 10-tonne trailer in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan Gas at Batu Sapi Road here yesterday.
Ladi Ismail, 65, died at the scene in the 11am accident while his sons, Ali Bin Ladi, 26, and Abdul Hadi Bin Ladi, 34, who was driving, suffered serious injuries.
According to Sandakan fire and rescue station officer Devi Rashedee Ensoi, fire and rescue personnel had to cut the Perodua Viva apart to extricate the victims pinned inside the car.
The trailer’s driver escaped unharmed, he added.
Ali and Abdul were believed to have been escorting their father back home to Kampung Bahagia from Hospital Duchess of Kent when the incident occurred.
