KOTA KINABALU: UMS Link Holdings Sdn Bhd (ULink) organised its first education fair in collaboration with its two subsidiaries, Ascot Academy and TAS Institute of Oil & Gas (TAS Institute) on July 6 at Palm Square, Centre Point Sabah here.
The objectives of the exhibition were to promote, inform and attract prospective applicants on the opportunity to further their study and/or acquire new skills at a higher level and also to increase awareness on the educational programmes and training offered by ULink, Ascot Academy and TAS Institute.
Programmes offered during the exhibition were from Certificate up to Master Degree level.
During the education fair, visitors were introduced to various courses that are not offered by other educational institutions or training centres.
Among the programmes are Certificate in Paralegal Studies, Diploma in Corporate Executive and BTEC Advanced Diploma in Engineering (Oil & Gas Operations). In addition, Certificates in Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts are also offered and considered as the most popular programme offered by Ascot Academy.
ULink as the main exhibitor, promoted its lifelong learning programmes offered by UMS Centre for External Education (UCEEs) for working adults from Bachelor Degree till Master Degree level on full-time and part-time basis.
UCEE offers programmes ranging from Marketing to Environmental Science, including computer-based programmes such as Software Engineering, e-Commerce and Multimedia Technology. These programmes are specifically designed to meet the needs of those currently employed in the public or private sectors.
Financial aid is available from a variety of sources to help pay for education expenses.
ULink through its ULink Institute of Skill Development (UCPD) also offers level 4 DKM programme the Diploma in Corporate Executive (PP-001-4) accredited by the Department of Skills Development of the Ministry of Human Resources. Minimum requirement for entry is SPM with at least three credits or Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) level 3.
By enrolling in this programme, it could be an opportunity for all school leavers whose passion and interests are inclined to do practical or skill-based training to attain suitable qualification before entering wide variety of industries as well as the commercial sector.
Registration for the Diploma in Corporate Executive and Certificate in Paralegal Studies is open now for September 2013 intake.
Ascot Academy, one of UMS Link Holdings Sdn Bhd’s subsidiaries, is a Boutique Hospitality Skills Institute located in 1Borneo Hypermall, Kota Kinabalu and specialising in Hospitality and Culinary Programme. Meanwhile TAS Institute offers BTEC (Business and Technician Education Council, UK) courses in four disciplines i.e. Electrical, Instrumentation Mechanical, and Process at Foundation Certificate, Intermediate Certificate and Advanced Diploma in Engineering (Oil & Gas Operations). TAS Institute aspires to be a significant oil and gas training provider through prestige, quality training and development programmes, and excellent scholars that matches the human capital requirements of the oil and gas industry in the region.
Besides that, the institute is committed to provide students with a strong, broad based fundamental engineering and technical education to prepare the students for careers in oil and gas industry.
According to the event organiser, Terence Chee Su Kyun, the exhibition was a great success and has achieved its target in creating greater awareness and prospective enrolment for new intakes.
