KAPIT: Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) Pelagus will soon form a youth division.
SWP Youth chief Dickson George said the division will be a platform for youth to develop and contribute their knowledge and skills in a positive way.
“Our youth group will be run by youth and focus on organising activities such as after-school programmes to keep the young off the streets and away from unhealthy activities,” he said during an SWP Pelagus Division gathering recently.
“We cannot change the world but surely we can make a it a better place for living. Youths today are faced with different kinds of challenges, for example opportunities for knowledge, skills development, unemployment and lack of good youth leadership etc.”
Among those present at the gathering was SWP president Larry Sng.
SWP will hold its annual general meeting in Sibu next month.
The party is currently holding discussions with party members and supporters at the grassroots to finalise the party’s stand.
