BANGKOK: The United States and Thailand will boost cooperation on anti-human trafficking, Thai News Agency (TNA) reported.

An agreement was announced following a courtesty call by U.S. Ambassador to Thailand Kristie Kenney on Thai Justice Minister Chaikasem Nitisiri in Bangkok on Thursday.

At their meeting, Kenney and Chaikasem discussed measures to tackle human trafficking-related issues in Thailand. Thailand is placed on the U.S. State Department’s human trafficking Tier 2 watch list.

The Thai justice minister said Thailand will continue to cooperate with the U.S. in order for the country to be removed from the human trafficking watch list.

The U.S. top envoy told journalists that Washington will also work with Thailand to further develop the Thai justice system. –BERNAMA
