PUTATAN: Barisan Nasional (BN) needs to get the support from more youths in the country in order to perform better in the next general election, five years from now.

Federal Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaludin said this during a breaking of fast ceremony where 100 children were presented with Hari Raya goodies and a total of 500 packets of rice from Bernas were presented to the State Umno Youth.

“During the 13th general election, the support for BN in Sabah had continued to be strong. We need to ensure of this steadfast support for the party in the upcoming 14th general election,” he said.

“The fight we will go through five years from now will be the most challenging. What we went through during the 13GE was not as challenging as it is going to be then. Our work now at the ministry is to ensure the BN government continues to get youths to be with it,” he said.

Khairy added that his ministry would work with the State Youth and Sports Ministry, and the Sabah Youth Council to engage with youths at the grassroots in Sabah.

“I hope my ministry, the State Youth and Sports Ministry, all non-governmental organisations and political parties will join hands to ensure that this aspiration is achieved,” he said.

He reminded that the opposition had employed a lot of youths and BN should do the same.

“We must ensure the voice of our youth remains strong and loud,” he said.
