Father, son arrested for alleged possession of two air rifles

KENINGAU: The police have arrested a father and son suspected of possessing two air rifles in a house in Tambunan.

District police chief Deputy Superintendent Robert Salisip @ David said at a press conference here yesterday that the two suspects were aged 14 and 45 years old.

He said on July 24 at about 12.30 pm, three policemen went to the suspects’ house in a village in Tambunan, and found two air rifles in a room. The suspects were then arrested and the weapons seized.

“The two suspects and the weapons were brought to the Tambunan police station for further action,” he said.

Robert said the case was being investigated under Section 8 of the Arms Act 1960, and upon conviction shall be liable to imprisonment not exceeding seven years or a fine of RM10,000 or both.

Meanwhile, he requested Filipina Glennya Jenn Hamja to come to the Keningau district police headquarters to assist in the investigation and as a witness in a court case under Section 302/394 of the Penal Code.

He said Glennya, holder of passport No: SS 0558803, could come to the Keningau district police station or the nearest police station.

Robert also asked those who know Glennya to contact the police at 087-332222.

Also present at the press conference were Criminal Investigation Department chief ASP Lee Nyuk Kim and investigating officer Inspector Azizi Abdul Rahman.
