Teenager fined for threatening ‘partner’

KOTA KINABALU: A teenage girl was fined RM25, in default, one day’s jail by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday for threatening her female partner.

Magistrate Edward Paul imposed the fine on Farsia Mohd Esa, 19, after she pleaded guilty to making a verbal threat to her ‘partner’ by saying “jaga kau kalau kau ada orang lain” (watch out you if you have another person).

The offence was committed at a rental room at Bandaran Berjaya here on July 25.

The accused, who is an IMM13 holder, was convicted under Section 8 (1) (e) of the Minor Offences Ordinance, which provides for a fine of not exceeding RM25, upon conviction.

When asked by the magistrate about why she threatened the victim, also 19, Farsia replied, “because of jealousy”.

Farsia also told the court that she and the victim are ‘couple’, who stayed together at the rental room.

In a separate case, Flipino Al Raffi Nasir, 23, was jailed for eight months by the same court for theft.

Al Raffi admitted to stealing a pair of shoes, spectacles, pens and four pieces of cloths belonging to a 26-year-old man at a house in Likas on July 17.

The offence under Section 379 of the Penal Code carries a maximum jail of seven years and also liable to a fine, upon conviction.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Lim Swee Beng told the court that the complainant recognized the accused, who stole his belongings, through a close circuit television (CCTV) at his house.

The complainant then called the police and the accused was arrested at the nearby area.
