Police nab three men with drugs, firearms in hotel

ALOR SETAR: Kedah police nabbed three men and seized an automatic pistol with 10 bullets in a raid at a hotel in Jalan Kampung Perak, here on Wednesday.

Kedah police chief, Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim said an inspection by Kota Setar Narcotics CID division team at about 12.30pm on Wednesday, found a Czech made Luger 9mm pistol in the hotel room.

He said apart from the pistol and bullets, the team also siezed RM500 in cash, three packets of syabu weighing 5.1 grammes, three weighing machines and three mobile phones.

He said the three suspects arrested were aged between 37 and 39 years from Alor Setar and Selangor and two of the suspects had 18 and 13 past criminal records respectively.

“One of the suspects who worked as a nightclub bouncer has no previous record,” he told a media conference at the Kota Setar
police headquarters, here yesterday.

Ahmad said the three suspects were now being remanded for four days from yesterday, for further investigation under section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug possession.

They were also charged under section 8 of the Firearms (Heavier Penalty) Act 1971 and section 8(a) of the Firearms Act 1960
for possesing firearms and bullets.

He said from January to July, Kedah police had seized seven pieces of firearms. — Bernama
