KOTA KINABALU: It is business as usual for the Sabah Parti KeADILan leadership, the party’s defacto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim told reporters here last night.

That means Sabah PKR liaison chief Ahmad Thamrin Jaini will continue to lead the party in Sabah along with the current state supreme council leaders.

“We had a short meeting to find ways on how to intensify our activities in the state. We had recorded several victories in the 13th general election in Sabah and increased the number of leaders in Sabah PKR.

“We suggested that for the time being, Ahmad Tamrin and the state supreme council leaders would continue business as usual until the central leadership makes a decision in the middle of next month,” Anwar said.

In June, a report by news portal The Borneo Insider claimed that there is a strong possibility of Ahmad Thamrin being replaced by Klias assemblyman Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin as the Sabah PKR liaison chief.

The possibility Lajim replacing Ahmad Thamrin was close to becoming a reality when at least 18 Sabah PKR divisional chiefs submitted a memorandum to party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, endorsing Lajim as the most qualified person for the job.

The memorandum was handed over to Azizah during a meeting with the latter on May 24, acting Beaufort divisional chief Taufick Ruschi was reported as saying.

Speaking to reporters before breaking of fast with Sabah PKR leaders and members here yesterday, Anwar said that more of the state leaders would be given the opportunity to assist in several issues and specific programs that could help strengthen the party.

He added that Lajim would be heading this team of leaders who will be assisting the state leaders to implement PKR’s programs.
