LIVERPOOL: Liverpool have submitted a £21.8 million (US$33 million) bid for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, the Liverpool Echo claimed Thursday.
The 24-year-old would be the third most expensive signing in the club’s history behind Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez.
The Brazilian international could even be a replacement for the controversial Suarez who has been linked all summer with a move away from Anfield in his desperate pursuit of Champions League football.
Costa scored 20 goals in 44 appearances for Atletico Madrid in all competitions last season. — AFP
