SANDAKAN: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman said the Sulu intrusion at Kampung Tanduo in Semporna was a wake-up call to all Malaysians to appreciate the sacrifices made by the security forces.

Musa said 10 personnel of the security forces were killed and this reminded the people of the importance of cooperation between the local community and security forces.

“The cooperation is important to preserve and protect our sovereignty and the peace, thus avoiding a similar incident,” Musa said during the presentation of contribution to Battalion 22 of Royal Malaysian Army at Sri Kinabatangan Camp here  yesterday.

At the same ceremony, Musa also announced the construction of a futsal court at the camp.

Also present were Assistant Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Zakaria Haji Mohd Edris and Libaran member of parliament Datuk Juslie Ajirol.

Meanwhile, the commanding officer of Batallion 22, Lieutenant Colonel Asri Shukor, pledged to defend and protect the region with his team covering Sandakan, Beluran and Kinabatangan areas.

Therefore, Asri hoped the army would get continuous support and cooperation from the government, local leaders, agencies and the local community.
