PENAMPANG: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) delegates attending the joint annual general meeting (AGM) for LDP Luyang, Api Api and Likas divisions yesterday passed a resolution to urge Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders to adopt a more consultative system in the coalition in matters that affects society.

LDP Likas chief Chin Su Ying tabled the resolution at the three divisions’ joint AGM yesterday which was officiated by Special Tasks Minister cum LDP secretary general Datuk Teo Chee Kang.

The resolution read: “To prevent any single party or individual from making authoritative or unilateral decision, and in order to uphold the basic principle of power sharing and to promote the mutual respect and solidarity among the BN component parties, the divisions propose that all important recommendations, proposals or issues having an impact on the society or the inter-party relationship must first be deliberated and approved at the BN supreme council meeting prior to adoption or implementation by the BN government.”

The resolution was unanimously passed by delegates from all three divisions.

Meanwhile Teo, when met later, said that LDP will be having party elections this year with Api Api, Likas and Luyang leading the way by holding their divisional elections yesterday.

He said that there are more younger LDP leaders now in the three divisions, including Albert Kok, who was elected as Luyang chief.

“His predecessor was Datuk Lee Chuen Wan, and here we see the transition from a senior leader to a younger one. It is also the same in the committees. We see more younger leaders and this is a good and healthy trend where we can implement agenda transformation,” Teo said.

He added that LDP’s main congress and party election will be held on October 19 and 20.

LDP Api-Api chief Senator Datuk Chin Su Phin who is also LDP deputy president and LDP Likas chief cum LDP Youth chief, Chin Su Ying were retained as divisional chiefs.
