BINTULU: Sarawakians are benefiting from the fruit of the state’s development and by 2030 it (state) will be one of the most vibrant states in the country.

Citing Bintulu as an example, Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, said its people were now enjoying the fruit of its development and were gainfully employed because of the plentiful job opportunities, brought about by the leaders.

“We all have a share in our wealth and development,” he said during a Hari Raya open house at Kpg Jepak yesterday.

He said Bintulu had changed not only due to its abundant natural resources but because of the people’s willingness to change for the better and it involved everybody.

The chief minister said Bintulu had long experienced rapid growth and with it a rising population, now estimated at 400,000 people, while its wealth was shared by all Sarawakians.

“Bintulu also has long attracted people from throughout Sarawak, Peninsular Malaysia and even from other countries. They know how to make use of their expertise here for a win-win situation.

As a politician and leader of the state biggest party (PBB), Taib said he had long realized that any fight could not be without the cooperation of everybody in the party and in the state for that matter. A fight must be fought with gentleness and not violence.

He, however, lamented that not many people knew how the system worked even though all shared in the same fruit of development.

“Wealth is enjoyed by the federal and state governments. The people who work hard also enjoy the same.”

Talking about Kpg Jepak, the chief minister said the area would see more development and progress with the setting of a new township which would include a museum and an art gallery.

“Jepak will slowly but surely develop into a better and bigger township. We have come to an ag reement for fur ther land extension, in line with the rise in the people’s quality of life.

On Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE), he said it be the biggest catalyst of development in the state by way of the creation of more job opportunities with skilled manpower.

He reiterated the importance of soft skill to be mastered by the young people in order to be more competitive in the job market and earn good incomes.

“We will continue with our struggle so that places such as Belaga, Kakus and Tg Manis, to name a few, will be inspired to also move forward.”

Puan Sri Ragad Kurdi Taib, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu, Minister of Housing Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg, Minister of Industrial Development Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan, DUN Speaker Datuk Amar Awang Asfia Awang Nasar and Assistant Minister of Tourism Datuk Talib Zulpilip were among those present at the open house.
