Lord Tiger win opening match

KUCHING: Lord Tiger registered their first win in Kuching Festival’s Basketball Jamboree Men’s Invitational Basketball Championship when they beat Efos Kimbay 66-49 at Saba basketball court on Thursday night.

The Tigers were unstoppable as they raced to a 22-8 lead in the first quarter and were 47-32 ahead by end of third quarter.

Efos Kimbay put up some resistance in the final quarter but lost 49-66 and suffered their second successive defeat in the tournament.

Three Lord Tiger players scored double digits, with top scorer Lee Ming Jieh netting 15 points, followed by Chang Lee Kui with 13 points and Jong Khian Lung with 11 points while Ervin Chai Pak Sin and Kok Jay Win each scored 10 points for Efos Kimbay.

Host Saba are the leaders of the competition after winning two out of two matches with four points in the bag while Lord Tiger are in second spot with three points from one win and one loss, Stranger in third spot with two points, followed by Efos Kimbay also on two points and 398 Group are last with one point.

Earlier, Kuching Festival Jamboree 717 Men’s Basketball Tournament, which was into its fourth day of competition, saw ALS Enterprise losing 19-26 to The Banquet in Group A and Sungai Jernang losing 12-16 to Saba 2 in Group B.

In other matches, SCB Strangers B beat The Last team 25-10 in Group C while Saba 5 edged CS 4 16-15 in Group D.
