Two foreigners arrested while packing syabu in KK hotel

KOTA KINABALU: Police arrested two foreigners while they were busy packing methamphetamine or syabu, in a hotel room in Sinsuran complex, here on Tuesday.

Deputy city police chief Superintendent M. Chandra said the men, in their early 20s and 30s, were arrested by police during a raid on August 13.

“When police stormed into the room, both suspects tried to flee from the scene but were apprehended by the police.

“Police found 51 plastic packets containing crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine or syabu in their possession,” he said.

Chandra said the drugs, weighing 5.4 grams could fetch a market price of around RM1,620.

He said both suspects had been remanded under Section 39A (1) and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, police have seized 17 modified computer sets that were used for illegal gambling.

Chandra said the raid was made at a premises in Inanam on August 15 around 9pm.

Two foreigners, aged 24 and 25, who police believed are the caretakers of the premises were also detained to facilitate police investigation.

Chandra added that the case would be investigated under Section 4B (a) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.
